Battlefield 2 won't start up even after I use the latest patch?

A long time ago, I installed Battlefield 2 on my computer and it worked fine. I had to reformat my computer. Since I knew that it worked, I reinstalled it. I installed the latest patch, 1.41 directly from the official Battlefield 2 website. Now, when I start the game it leads me to a black screen, but it doesn't quit back to the desktop, I have to auto end the process. Please help, I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere!Battlefield 2 won't start up even after I use the latest patch?
Maybe you need to update some drivers like video, audio etc

well it might be the patch and HOPEFULLY its just that....but i used to have the same problem but not the same patch it was diffrent try taking the patch off your computer and playing....the best advice i can give you on this one
The only thing you can do now is to re-install the game.

They're pretty similar actually. As you rank up in Battlefield 2, you are able to unlock one new weapon for each class of your choosing per rank. The system is a lot less complex then 2142 as you are only able to unlock primary weapons while in 2142 you are able to unlock new primary weapons, grenades, weapon attachments, player abilities, and so forth. it is not like 2142. You can only chose from one class specific weapon (primary) at a time which you can also use in the expansion/booster packs but you do not get to choose your kit as you can in 2142. It is a good game and very solid at that, however if you are coming from 2142 to 2 you might find the gameplay doesnt seem as fluid and it is harder to aim, move and parachute (default key is 9 i believe, easily fixed but annoying). As far as I know 2142 and COD4 are the most customizable games out right now, maybe crysis but ive never played online.

Keep pressing the select button. Soon you will see were your enemies are and you team will see to. But what i dont know is how to do that in the pc. can anybody tell me how?

It is the Select button. If you spam it though, it will impose a 10-15 second cooldown. It's 'Q' for the PC.

You can't play Crysis 2/BF3 at maxed settings (AA enabled). I own a 6970 which is (by far) a better card than a 550ti and I'm unable to play Crysis 2 at maxed settings at a playable FPS. Crytek released a DX11 patch which I'm referring to. You can easily play the original DX9 console port at maxed settings but not DX11.



I don't own BF3 but I can imagine you can't max out the settings for that game either since its DX11 and looks extremely graphic intense. You have a nice PSU and a good CPU but your GPU is average for a gamer.



You will need either a 570 or 580 to play close to maxed settings (570 will be laggy but 580 should be playable). I would return the 550ti if I were you and upgrade to either one or the other mentioned above (if gaming w/maxed eye candy is your objective). If you don't mind the AMD equivalent you should get a 6950 (closer to a 560ti) or a 6970 (closer to a 570).
