Battlefield 2 won't start up even after I use the latest patch?

A long time ago, I installed Battlefield 2 on my computer and it worked fine. I had to reformat my computer. Since I knew that it worked, I reinstalled it. I installed the latest patch, 1.41 directly from the official Battlefield 2 website. Now, when I start the game it leads me to a black screen, but it doesn't quit back to the desktop, I have to auto end the process. Please help, I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere!Battlefield 2 won't start up even after I use the latest patch?
Maybe you need to update some drivers like video, audio etc

well it might be the patch and HOPEFULLY its just that....but i used to have the same problem but not the same patch it was diffrent try taking the patch off your computer and playing....the best advice i can give you on this one
The only thing you can do now is to re-install the game.

Mine did the exact same thing so I called up the helpline and they told me to delete and then re-install the game.Battlefield 2 won't start up even after I use the latest patch?

And as some other people said, it could just be the patch.
